Margot Guest House
1698 Lexington Avenue
New York, New York 10029
The Margot Guest House, (or bed and breakfast) offers a charming and affordable alternative to the high prices and often ordinary experience of staying in New York City hotels. Located in an historic, diversified, and still old-fashioned neighborhood, we are steps from Central Park and the start of Museum Mile, and within easy walking distance of many of the most important cultural and tourist attractions of Manhattan. Our rooms are lovely, romantic, comfortable, and immaculate.
The Margot Guest House opened in 2008. The house is newly restored, respecting much of its 19th century character. There are antique doors from France throughout. We have six self-contained guest studios, each of which can accommodate up to 3 guests. Some rooms look out over an expanse of rear gardens, others face the street and have pocket-shuttered windows. All are high-ceilinged and spacious. The building is oriented directly east and west and has open sky in both directions, and all the rooms have lots of cheerful light.
Many guests have told us they felt like they were in a cute hotel in France, rather than in New York, and in fact that was our inspiration---the beautiful, old fashioned, and inexpensive little hotels and chambres d’hôte until recently found throughout Paris.
We feel that our rooms are, in relation to our rates, one of the very best lodging bargains to be found in all of New York City.
